Lights of the main Christmas tree were burnt

On December 25, in the Republic Square, at 6.00pm Gagik Beglaryan, the Mayor of Yerevan burnt the lights of the main Christmas tree which is symbolizing 2010 Year. Then whole city glittered festively. New Year’s Day holiday gala and program began in the Republic Square under the luxurious lights of the main Christmas tree. Santa Claus and Snow Maiden saluted the presents.

Nazik Avdalyan World Champion

The Anthem of the Republic of Armenia sounded in Northern Korea as the 19 year-old, woman Armenian weight-lifter Nazik Avdalyan (69kg weight class) today became the World Champion at the World Weightlifting Championship in Goyang, Northern Korea.



Nazik Avdalyan brought 3 Gold medals to the Armenian National Team. By the first "Clean and jerk" approach she raised 119kg and gained the small Gold Medal. Then she took 147kg at the "Snatch" approach gaining the second small Gold Medal. In total Nazik lifted 266kg and became the World Champion 2009.



As a result Armenian took the 3rd place in the team list with 9 medals.Oksana Slivenko from Russia became the 2nd and Shaoli Zharg from Marocco became the 3rd.

Congradulations to Gabriel Sargissian!

GM Gabriel Sargissian, in composition of the "Linex Magic" team, took the title of the champion of Spain in this country's Team Championship which was held in Linares. Sargissian's team-mates were Shirov, Adams, Cheparinov, Caruana, Perez Candelario. In the final match "Linex Magic" won "Marcote" which was lead by Gashimov.

Congratulations to Armenian taekwondoists!

We are glad to announce thet the Armenian taekwondo team took part in ITF European Championship in Nicosia (Cyprus), October 25-31, where Armenian taekwondoist Levon Minasyan (63,5 kg) won two golden medals (sparring and breaking of boards) and Davit Atanesyan became the champion in Kata exercise.
